Why we do it

We believe everyone, no matter their age, income, ability or location, deserves access to transportation. We exist to remove barriers and provide independence and transit for residents and visitors of Victoria County.

  • Lack of transportation should never keep you from making your medical appointments.

  • If you’re not comfortable driving in the winter, we’re here to make sure you can still get your groceries and or get to work with peace of mind.

  • Combat isolation with more opportunities to easily connect with your community.

  • Explore beautiful Cape Breton and enjoy yourself worry free knowing someone is there to safely get you home.

Community Engagement Sessions

From March to April 2019, we hosted community engagement sessions in all eight Districts across Victoria County. We had invaluable feedback from many residents and we appreciate everyone who contributed. In many cases we have incorporated your feedback and requests around the service to try a new approach (e.g. weather cancellations, ferry costs, etc.) so thanks for your helpful feedback.

As this is a pilot that is designed to be tailored to the needs of residents in Victoria County, we will continually take your feedback to heart and refine and adapt the service to best serve you, our riders! You can provide feedback here.

The implementation and launch of Victoria County Transit (VCT) is a collaborative project between the Municipality of Victoria County and Strait Area Transit, and is supported by the Province of Nova Scotia’s Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage (CCH).
